Occupational Therapists help people develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills.   Our therapists help people who have physically, visual or cognitive impairments improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments.  They “give people the skills for the job of living”.

Karen Allen Hislop


Training & Education: Karen has been practicing occupational therapy for over 20 years.   She earned a bachelor of science in Occupational Therapy at the University of North Dakota, and completed her MBA at Troy State University.

Specializations & Certifications: Karen formed Therapy Achievements in 2009 with the goal of providing comprehensive rehabilitation services for people with stroke, brain and spinal cord injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, cancer and lymphatic disorders.  She has completed extensive training and is certified as a  Driving Rehabilitation Specialist, a Neuro NDT Therapist, a Lymphedema Therapist, a Parkinson’s LSVT BIG Therapist, a SaeboFlex Technology Therapist, a VitalStim Therapist,  and a Seating Specialist for Wheelchair fittings.  Her vision is to create a company where patients and staff can thrive and reach their potential.

Training & Education: Kristen received her Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from Brown Mackie College. Prior to completing her degree in occupational therapy, she worked as a cosmetologist.

Specializations & Certifications: Kristen is a certified lymphedema therapist and enjoys the diversity of patients and the wide range of diagnosis they have at Therapy Achievements.  She particularly likes the personalized attention she is able to give them in the out-patient setting.

Melissa Flowers

Melissa Flowers, COTA, CLT


Training & Education: Melissa received her Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from Wallace State College.

Specializations & Certifications: Melissa is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Prior to working at Therapy Achievements, she enjoyed working in a variety of settings including sub-acute rehab, out-patient and in-patient rehab.

Training & Education: Kerri graduated from UAB 1983 with BS in Occupational Therapy.

Specializations & Certifications:   Kerri has advanced training in orthopedics, geriatrics and dementia. She is a Certified Holistic Lifestyle Coach and is working on certification as Exercise Coach.

Training & Education: Joanna graduated from Mississippi State with a B. S. in Educational Psychology. She then went on to earn her M.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Specializations & Certifications: Joanna has completed substantial training in rehabilitation treatment for individuals with brain injury, stroke, and Lymphedema. She enjoys the variety of patients that she is able to work with at Therapy Achievements.

Training & Education:  Paige earned her Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy from Wallace State.

Specializations & Certifications:  Paige has worked in inpatient settings as well as Home Health. Paige enjoys working with patient’s with Stroke, TBI, Cancer, Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease.
