What is MyoPro®?

MyoPro® is a myoelectric upper-extremity orthosis—a powered brace designed to assist individuals with weakness or paralysis of the arm and hand. Unlike traditional braces that simply support a limb, MyoPro actively assists movement by detecting your body's own muscle signals and amplifying them to help you perform functional tasks.

The device can assist movement at the:

How Does MyoPro Work?

Even when movement is severely limited, many people still have faint nerve signals traveling from the brain to the muscles. These signals may not be strong enough to produce meaningful movement, but they can often be detected.

• Detect: Sensors placed on the skin over the affected muscles detect tiny electrical signals produced when you attempt to move your arm or hand. This technology is known as electromyography (EMG).
• Assist: When MyoPro recognizes your intention to move, small motors built into the brace activate and assist the movement of the elbow, wrist, and hand.
• Perform: The brace amplifies your own muscle effort, allowing you to perform movements and functional tasks that might otherwise be difficult or impossible.

Rather than moving for you, MyoPro works with your body's existing signals to support purposeful movement.
